Take the First Step This Summer at Dutchess Community College

Dutchess Community College is the only Licensure Qualifying program geared to help Dental Assistants comply with Section 6608 of the New York State Education Law*

This 24-credit certificate program is approved by New York State Education Department AND the State University of New York - and it is offered in a centrally convenient location at low tuition.

Start This Summer! Your first course will be:

DAS 901-61.0 Oral Head and Neck Anatomy (Index#1256), a seven week, 2 credit course offered Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Dutchess Community College South, Hollowbrook Park, Building 4, 31 Marshall Road in Wappingers Falls (off Route 9). Tuition is $190.50. Required text, Modern Dental Assisting by Torres and Enrlich, is available for approximately $60 at the DCC Bookstore.

* The Law states that dental assistants who perform the following functions must be licensed:

<LI>Give patient education, including POH
<LI>Take preliminary medical histories and vital signs
<LI>Place and remove rubber dams
<LI>Select and pre-fit provisional crowns
<LI>Select and pre-fit orthodontic bands
<LI>Remove orthodontic arch wires and ligature ties
<LI>Place and remove matrix bands
<LI>Take impressions for study casts or diagnostic casts
o Remove periodontal dressings
o Remove sutures placed by a licensed dentist
